Philosophy of 新民家
SHINMINKA
Formerly known as Ryukyu, this land has, for centuries,
developed its culture based on the natural surroundings of forests and ocean resources.
Located on the southernmost tip of modern day Japan off the shores of mainland China, the people of Ryukyu gained their influence from surrounding cultures, creating a unique sustainable lifestyle found nowhere else in the world.
Over time, modernization and technology has diluted the local culture.
Our project works to preserve the traditions and customs from being lost forever with the understanding that culture is always evolving and changing. Through tourism, our goal is to work with the peoples who have lived here to help them promote the history and uniqueness of this beautiful and culturally rich land.
かつて琉球王国と呼ばれたこの地は森林や海洋資源を元に美しい文化が育まれ、
近隣諸国の新しい技術を取り入れ消化し、独自の持続可能なライフスタイルを構築していました。
しかし、近代になり技術の進歩がその消化速度を上回り、伝統と近代は区別され、
それまで育まれてきた美しい風景や生活とはかけ離れた状況が現れています。
伝統文化は守るものでもなく、否定するものでもない。育むものなのです。
そして人々はその情景に美しさを求めています。
それらは簡素でよく、最小限でいいのです。そのことは豊かさとは連動しません。
そしてなにより、伝統文化とは常に新しくあるべきなのです。
このプロジェクトは観光をきっかけとして地域に住んでいる人々と協働し、この土地の本来の魅力を引き出していき、
未来に繋がる文化事業としての役割を目指しています。
Forestry for rebuilding in the next generation
We have thought about reconstructing the life cycle by combining
construction and afforestation as an idea to restore the lost forests.
Afforestation at the same time we construct housing,
We want to propose to society cultural practices that manage forestry with people involved in that housing.
The goal of this project is to create an ideal life cycle from 50 years onwards.
将来の再築のための林業
失われた林業を取り戻すための建築と植林を組み合わせたライフサイクルを再構築することを考えました。
住宅を建築するのと同時に建て替えに時に必要な分の植林を行い、
その住宅に関わる人々と共に林業を営む文化的慣習を社会に提案したいと考えています。
このプロジェクトは、50年後からの理想的なライフサイクルを生み出すことを目指します。
SHINMINKA villaは琉球諸島に展開する自然と歴史と「地域の人々との協働」を大切にする宿泊施設です。
